Andrew Gilmartin writes about his old Mac Gopher client, which would save window positions. Why don't applications do this any more? MORE would create a “Resume MORE” document when it was quit which you could use to resume your workspace, and other applications of the era had similar features.

I was reminded of this yesterday when I reopened a project in Apple's Project Builder 2.0, and my workspace was restored, including open documentation and manual pages. A similar, though less powerful, feature is the ability to bookmark sets of tabs in Mozilla. Someone still cares. Thanks!
