WIL WHEATON DOT NET: Wow, that is a gigantic Canadian flag.
OSX, Radio and Upstreaming: How to use rsync to mirror your Radio site. I've got a sample mirror set up here.
Just spent about two hours recovering from some filesystem corruption on my OS X boot volume. My Palm Desktop “User Data” file was crosslinked with a VM swap file. And this is not the first time this has happened, either.
I am thankful for Retrospect and my backups (which happen to be in Boston, but it still works), Timbuktu and DiskWarrior.
OS X really, really, badly needs a decent filesystem with crash recovery. Windows has NTFS; Linux has JFS, XFS, reiserfs, and ext3fs; FreeBSD has UFS with softupdates; OS X needs something soon. And I need to move my swap files to another disk, real soon now.
This weekend has been a pretty slow one news-wise and work-wise for me. I've been entertaining a prospective MSP student in computer science, Kyle Farh (his home page links in Hong Kong and Rice no longer appear functional). Kyle went to Rice as an undergrad and is now now working out in California.
In other MSP CS news, my friend-of-a-friend Josh Unger was admitted for the fall. A bunch of us went out on Friday night to celebrate. I might finally be getting some company here in the MD/CS PhD boat.
Photos of Saturday night's dinner party and festivities are here. Any semblance of dignity I ever possessed… gone, gone, gone.
I've fixed up the comment links and added the JavaScript-include counters, thanks Jake.
